Raising awareness of the positive benefits of diversity amongst existing students, as well as developing global awareness. Promote the welcoming culture and nature of study at Westminster in order to encourage recruitment. Explore innovative ways of mapping content and ideas appropriate to the needs of a chosen audience. I decided to focus on languages as this is the most important key in communication.
At Westminster, we have students from almost every country in the world. This means that students speak different languages, express themselves in different ways and have different cultural backgrounds. Looking at this in depth, I found out that each language has its own special characters and that alphabets differ from each other - DIVERSITY! Even though letters are mostly the same, there are accents and marks that change pronunciation and meaning. For the final outcome, I created a booklet/publication. I experimented with type size, positioning, display of information, fonts and weights. The colors I chose are different shades of the university official colors: pink and blue. For the text, I used Avenir as my main typeface. The target audience is the potential new students, and also the existing students. The booklet would be received at the University Open Day or at different university events.
